Teign Valley Golf Club is a picturesque 18-hole golf course located at Christow in Devon, surrounded by the dramatic countryside of the Teign Valley within Dartmoor National Park. Opened in 1995 and designed by P. Nicholson, the course occupies an undulating rural site where significant changes in elevation, established woodland and open grassland create a varied and distinctly natural golfing environment. Rather than relying on sheer length, the layout rewards accuracy, thoughtful club selection and good course management as golfers negotiate sloping terrain and changing elevations throughout the round.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,840 yards, course rating 69.5 and slope rating 123. Designed by P. Nicholson, the course originally opened in 1995. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Bar / 19th Hole, Restaurant.
Teign Valley Golf Club opened in 1995 on a site split either side of the B3193 near Christow, on the eastern edge of Dartmoor National Park, with P. Nicholson designing a layout across the valley's steep natural elevation changes.
Ownership changed more than once in the decades since: the club was sold to a local family in 2008, the same year it hosted the Devon County Championship, before passing in 2022 to its current owner, 360 Sycamore Ltd.
In 2025, Dartmoor National Park Authority granted planning consent for a redevelopment that reshapes the club entirely — reducing the existing 18 holes to a 12-hole pay-and-play layout, and using the freed land for padel and pickleball courts, guest accommodation converted from an existing farm building, and an expanded clubhouse. The owner has been explicit about why: the course in its current form was not considered financially or environmentally sustainable long-term, and diversifying into a broader leisure destination is intended to secure the site's future rather than see it close for good.
