The Links is Pete Dye's inland 18-hole course at Casa de Campo in La Romana. The resort's historical material dates its opening to 1974. The modern course is a par 71 playing a little over 7,000 yards from the back tees, with a published back-tee slope of 126.
Its terrain differs from the exposed Caribbean shoreline of Teeth of the Dog: The Links moves through the resort's rolling interior, using sculpted bunkers, undulating putting surfaces, tall Bahia grass and several water features. Pete Dye returned to renovate the course, with major work completed around 2012 as the layout was updated for modern equipment and playing distances. Current tee-time policy limits play to registered resort guests, villa owners, residents and their accompanied guests.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,401m (7,000 yards), slope rating 126. Designed by Pete Dye, the course originally opened in 1974. It is open to resort guests. On-site facilities include Golf shop, Driving range, Practice facilities, Golf Learning Center, Club rental, Golf carts, Restaurant, Suite, and 1 more.
After establishing Teeth of the Dog, Pete Dye created a second course through Casa de Campo's rolling interior. Casa de Campo's own historical tribute dates The Links to 1974.
The course offers a deliberate contrast with Teeth of the Dog. Wide fairways lead into more intricate green complexes, with Dye's bunkering, contours and collection areas providing much of the strategic difficulty. Several lakes add another element absent from much of the resort's famous seaside routing.
Pete Dye later returned to modernize The Links. A substantial renovation around 2011-2012 altered bunkering, hazards and playing lengths to respond to advances in golf equipment.
The Links remains one of Casa de Campo's three principal Pete Dye resort courses. Tee times are restricted to registered resort guests, owners, residents and their accompanied guests.
