The Mines Resort & Golf Club in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, occupies land formerly used by the Hong Fatt open-cast tin mine. Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew led the redevelopment of the heavily altered mining site, with Robert Trent Jones Jr. designing an 18-hole course around the resulting lake and restored landscape.
The club was inaugurated in 1994 by Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The Mines later became an international tournament venue, hosting the 1999 World Cup of Golf, the 2000 Women's World Cup Golf and the CIMB Classic from 2010 through 2012.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the course originally opened in 1994. It is a private members-only club. On-site facilities include Clubhouse.
Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew led the transformation of the former Hong Fatt Tin Mine into a major mixed-use development. Robert Trent Jones Jr. was commissioned to design the golf course around the altered mining landscape and lake.
Jones worked with a site whose fundamental landforms had been created by decades of mining, using the lake and reconstructed landscape as central components of the 18-hole routing.
The club was inaugurated in 1994 by Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. It subsequently developed an international tournament profile through the World Cup of Golf and later the CIMB Classic.
The Mines has hosted professional fields including Tiger Woods at the 1999 World Cup of Golf and PGA Tour-sanctioned CIMB Classic events.
The Mines continues as a private golf club at the centre of the wider Mines development in Seri Kembangan.
