Thornleigh Golf Centre is a driving range and mini golf facility in Brickpit Park, Thornleigh, on Sydney's Upper North Shore, operating since August 2012. It was named Facility of the Year at the 2025 NSW Golf Industry Awards. The range has 56 covered, floodlit bays across two levels, 20 of them fitted with Range Servant auto tee-up equipment, and every bay is equipped with TrackMan™ Range technology giving golfers instant shot data — carry distance and ball speed — on every regular session, with no booking required; PGA coaches also use the full 26-parameter TrackMan data set for private, group, junior, and ladies lessons.
Alongside the range, the centre operates two 18-hole mini golf courses, Palms and Billabong, winding around rivers, bridges, ponds and waterfalls, floodlit for evening play and designed for players of all ages and skill levels. On site, the Bunker Café serves food and drink, the pro shop stocks LAB Golf putters and other equipment, and club fitting sessions are available. The centre also hosts corporate days, kids' parties, and functions and events.
The course originally opened in 2012. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Pro Shop, Club Fitting, Café, Function Room.
Thornleigh Golf Centre exists because a touring professional decided Sydney's northern suburbs needed a better place to practice. Steve Aisbett had spent the 1980s and 1990s playing on tour, including several Australian Opens, after starting his career at Pymble and Chatswood. A stint as club professional at Dubbo followed before he returned to Sydney in 2007 with a plan to build a stand-alone practice facility rather than attach one to a traditional 18-hole course.
The site he chose was Brickpit Park on Pennant Hills Road in Thornleigh, land shaped by the area's brick-quarrying past rather than any golf course routing. The centre opened in August 2012, giving Aisbett a facility built specifically around teaching and practice rather than competitive play.
Since opening, the centre has grown around technology rather than territory. All 56 covered, floodlit bays are now fitted with TrackMan Range, and Aisbett's coaching team draws on the system's full 26-parameter data set for lessons rather than the simplified carry-and-ball-speed readout offered to walk-up users. Twenty of the bays use Range Servant auto tee-up equipment.
Two themed 18-hole mini golf courses, Palms and Billabong, were built alongside the range, giving the site a family-entertainment role that most stand-alone practice facilities don't attempt.
That combination of coaching, technology, and family programming was recognised in 2025, when Thornleigh was named Facility of the Year at the NSW Golf Industry Awards, cited for its community partnerships and its work introducing new players to the game through local schools.
