About Waratah Golf Club

Waratah Golf Club is an 18-hole public-access golf club at 456 Lake Road in Argenton, New South Wales. Founded in 1901, it originally played at Dangar Park in Mayfield before moving to its present Argenton course in 1921. The club is one of the founding members of the Newcastle District Golf Association.

Origins

Waratah Golf Club was founded in 1901 and originally played at Dangar Park in Mayfield. It was the first golf club in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area.

Development

The club moved to its current Argenton course in 1921. Much of the present routing follows longstanding playing corridors beside Cockle Creek.

The club remains open to members and visitors, with competition and social golf, coaching and clubhouse facilities.
