About Wentworth Golf Club

Wentworth Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-70 public-access course at 130 Ploughmans Lane in Orange, New South Wales. The club was established in 1965 after local golfers sought an additional golf course for the growing Orange community. The present layout measures about 5,870 metres, or 6,418 yards, with a published rating/slope of approximately 70/119. It contains 22 sand bunkers, three dams, established trees and a small pine forest. Following amalgamation with Orange Ex-Services' Club, the course has received irrigation, green, tee, fairway, machinery and cart-path improvements.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,870m (6,418 yards), course rating 70 and slope rating 119. The course originally opened in 1965. It is open to the public. Origins

Wentworth emerged in 1965 when demand for golf in Orange exceeded the capacity of the city's established club. A group of local golfers and businessmen organised a new club and attracted hundreds of prospective members.

Did You Know?
Early members carried rocks off the fairways by hand while converting the original paddock into a golf course.

Design Philosophy

No professional architect was verified. The layout was created through substantial local volunteer effort on former paddock land, with trees cleared, stumps removed and rocks carried from the playing corridors.

Development

The course developed into an 18-hole grass-green layout. Following amalgamation with Orange Ex-Services' Club, investment has included irrigation upgrades, rehabilitation of greens, tees and fairways, new machinery and ongoing cart-path construction. A new clubhouse opened in the modern period.

Recognition

Golf NSW highlights Wentworth as one of Orange's established visitor-friendly golf clubs.

Today

The Wentworth Orange combines the 18-hole golf course with a modern clubhouse, professional golf services, dining, simulators and social facilities.
