Golf Course Architect
Doug Carrick is a Canadian golf course architect based in Toronto, with a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Toronto (1981). E.
“Robbie” Robinson—who himself was mentored by Stanley Thompson—and established Carrick Design Inc. in 1985.
His breakout projects, including the Angus Glen South course (1995) and the Heathlands at Osprey Valley (1993), helped build his reputation both commercially and critically. He later took leadership of Robinson & Carrick after Robinson’s passing and continued expanding his firm’s portfolio globally.
Over his career, Carrick has designed or renovated over 50 golf courses, primarily across Canada, and has held prominent roles within the American Society of Golf Course Architects, including serving as its president in 2009–10. His design philosophy emphasizes creativity unique to each site, playability for golfers of all abilities, visual character, strategic variety, and respect for the natural landscape.
