Barbados Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public course at Durants in Christ Church. The present course is the product of a major reconstruction completed in 2000 to a design by Ron Kirby, although golf had previously occupied the site in the 1970s. The club describes the layout as 6,805 yards with two returning nines that finish around a distinctive triple-green complex.
Two lakes affect five holes, including holes 15 and 16, while coral waste bunkers are incorporated into four holes. The course was designed to accommodate a broad range of golfers and remains open to visitors as well as members. Its tournament history includes the PGA European Seniors Tour in 2003 and multiple editions of the Barbados Open, along with regional amateur championships.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,223m (6,805 yards). Designed by Ron Kirby, the course originally opened in 2000. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Full Membership, driving range, putting green, chipping green, practice nets, pro shop, clubhouse, restaurant, and 4 more.
Golf at Durants predates the current Barbados Golf Club layout. An 18-hole course was developed there in the 1970s but subsequently ran into financial difficulties and eventually became dormant. A locally backed effort involving hundreds of shareholders later revived the property.
Ron Kirby was brought in to reconstruct the course, creating an open layout with two returning nines, broad playing corridors, two lakes and coral waste bunkers. The finishing areas converge around an unusual triple-green complex.
Reconstruction work began in the late 1990s and the course reopened in 2000. Contemporary reporting described the project as a complete redesign and reconstruction rather than a minor renovation.
The rebuilt course was sanctioned by the PGA European Tour and staged a PGA Seniors event in 2003. It has subsequently hosted the Barbados Open and regional amateur championships.
Barbados Golf Club operates as a public-access club welcoming members, local golfers and visitors. The official club site lists an 18-hole, par-72, 6,805-yard course and provides visitor tee-time booking.
