The Country Club is one of three golf courses operated by Sandy Lane in Saint James, Barbados. Designed by Tom Fazio, it is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course measuring 7,060 yards from the longest tees. The course was created during Sandy Lane's major redevelopment around the turn of the century and opened in 2001 according to contemporary professional-tour sources.
Five lakes are incorporated into the routing, and the elevated portions of the property provide views toward Barbados's west coast. The Country Club has a particularly significant tournament credential: it hosted the 2006 World Golf Championships Barbados World Cup, won by Germany's Bernhard Langer and Marcel Siem. Unlike Sandy Lane's Green Monkey course, which is restricted to hotel guests, the Country Club accepts outside golfers as well as Sandy Lane guests.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,456m (7,060 yards). Designed by Tom Fazio, the course originally opened in 2001. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Restaurant, Café, Terrace, driving range, practice bunker, putting green, clubhouse, locker rooms, and 5 more.
The Country Club emerged from the comprehensive redevelopment of Sandy Lane at the end of the 1990s. Tom Fazio was retained to create new championship golf as part of the rebuilt resort.
Fazio routed the course through rolling ground above Barbados's west coast, incorporating five lakes and using elevation to create changing views and playing angles. The championship configuration extends to 7,060 yards.
Contemporary professional-tour sources identify the course as opening in 2001. It became one of Sandy Lane's three distinct golf offerings alongside the historic Old Nine and the later Green Monkey.
Its international profile was established by the 2006 World Golf Championships Barbados World Cup, which brought leading national teams to Barbados.
The Country Club remains Sandy Lane's publicly bookable championship course. Current Sandy Lane policies permit both hotel guests and outside golfers, with a shared cart included in the published green fee and caddie service mandatory per cart.
