Bowral Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-69 parkland course in Bowral in the New South Wales Southern Highlands. The club was established in 1901, although it initially had no course of its own. Members first played on C.
J. Royle's private nine-hole course, later moving to land near Bowral Hospital and then to the Merilbah Estate. The club purchased 36 acres on Kangaloon Road in 1917.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 69, 5,406 yards, course rating 69 and slope rating 121. Designed by Carnegie Clark and Daniel Soutar, the course originally opened in 1901. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Putting Green, Practice Area, Golf Lessons, Restaurant, Bar, Function Rooms, Golf Carts, and 1 more.
The club formed in 1901 without a course of its own. For its first two years members played by invitation on foundation member C. J.
Royle's private nine-hole course. The club later used land opposite Bowral Hospital and then a sand-green course on the Merilbah Estate.
After learning in 1915 that the Merilbah lease would end, the club purchased 36 acres on Kangaloon Road in 1917. Dan Soutar laid out nine holes there. A further 49 acres were acquired in 1920 and Carnegie Clark designed the extension to 18 holes.
Another 5.7 acres were purchased in 1950 for what became the present 15th. The course was fully irrigated in 2001 after a major capital project.
Australian Golf Digest has highlighted Bowral as one of Australia's stronger-value public-access courses and noted the architectural connection between Soutar's work at Bowral and Kingston Heath.
Bowral remains an 18-hole member club with visitor access, a staffed professional shop and clubhouse facilities.
