About Brighton Lakes Recreation & Golf Club

Brighton Lakes Recreation & Golf Club operates an 18-hole course at 43 Brickmakers Drive in Moorebank, New South Wales, beside the Georges River. The club descends from North Brighton Golf Club and later New Brighton Golf Club, which relocated more than once as transport and development projects affected earlier sites. Construction at the current Moorebank site began in 1980 and the course became playable in 1982.

A later residential redevelopment removed six holes and a practice fairway. Golf architect Bob Harrison was commissioned to create seven replacement holes and redesign four others, with the rebuilt course opening for play in August 2019. A current Black-tee scorecard lists 6,202 yards, par 70, rating 68.7 and slope 117; forward configurations use different pars.

The course is an 18-hole golf course. It plays to 6,202 yards, course rating 68.7 and slope rating 117. Designed by Bob Harrison, the course originally opened in 1982. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Practice Areas, Golf Carts, Golf Equipment Hire, Golf Lessons, Restaurant, Terrace, Function Rooms, and 2 more.

Origins

The organisation traces its roots to North Brighton Golf Club near Sydney Airport. Airport expansion displaced that club, leading to a move to Milperra and adoption of the New Brighton name. A later road project prompted another relocation.

Did You Know?
Transport projects forced the club to relocate more than once before it settled at its present Moorebank site.

Development

Construction at the current Georges River site began in 1980 and the course was playable by 1982. Decades later, residential development removed six holes and a practice fairway. Bob Harrison designed seven replacement holes and reworked four others, with the new configuration opening in August 2019.

Recognition
