The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf. On-site facilities include Suite, Golf shop, Driving range, Golf instruction, Villa, Apartment, Room.
Cabo del Sol developed into a major Los Cabos golf property with two separate championship layouts. The first was Jack Nicklaus's Ocean Course, now called the Cove Club Course, which dates to 1994. Tom Weiskopf subsequently designed the Desert Course, now called the Cabo Del Sol Course, which opened in December 2001.
The two courses have followed different paths and now have different access policies. The former Ocean Course became the private Cove Club Course and underwent phased renovations overseen by Jack Nicklaus. The former Desert Course became the Cabo Del Sol Course.
In November 2023, six newly designed holes by Fry/Straka Design Group opened on the mountainside portion of that course, together with a provisional clubhouse facility and driving range.
Cabo del Sol currently presents two separate golf products. The Cove Club Course is reserved for members and their guests. The Cabo Del Sol Course, formerly the Desert Course, is the visitor-accessible Tom Weiskopf layout and is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 7,049 yards from the tournament markers.
These should be represented as separate directory records rather than combined into one generic course.
