Wild Atlantic Dunes is one of two distinct 18-hole routings offered by Carne Golf Links on the Mullet Peninsula. It is a composite course rather than a wholly separate set of 18 holes: nine holes come from the newer Kilmore nine and nine from Eddie Hackett's original course. The additional nine was developed from ideas associated with Hackett's original vision for the most dramatic part of the dune property, with design work credited by Carne to Jim Engh and Ally McIntosh.
The integrated Wild Atlantic Dunes routing officially launched in 2020. Published course information gives a length of approximately 6,685 yards and par 72. The routing crosses extremely large natural dunes and is intentionally distinct from the Original Hackett Course, even though the two share nine holes.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,685 yards. Designed by Ally McIntosh and Eddie Hackett and Jim Engh, the course originally opened in 2020. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Practice facilities, Life Membership.
Carne's original 18 was created by Eddie Hackett on the Mullet Peninsula. A further nine holes was later developed in the most dramatic unused portion of the dune system. Carne credits Ally McIntosh and Jim Engh for this newer nine, which drew on Hackett's earlier ideas for the land.
The additional nine opened before the Wild Atlantic Dunes identity was created. Carne subsequently combined those holes with the back nine of the original Hackett course to form a second 18-hole routing. Wild Atlantic Dunes officially launched in 2020.
Carne markets Wild Atlantic Dunes and the Original Hackett Course as two distinct championship routings and encourages visitors to play both. Because nine holes are shared, database scorecards must remain routing-specific.
