Clifton Springs Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 public-access course at 92-94 Clearwater Drive, Clifton Springs, Victoria. Golf on the site dates to the early tourist development around the Clifton Springs mineral springs. The first recorded official Saturday competition was played on 20 November 1909 on a nine-hole links course laid out by Melbourne golf professional Richard 'Dick' Banks.
Historical Golf Victoria material records that the course was expanded to 18 holes in the late 1950s to a design by Sam Berriman. The modern men's course measures 5,783 metres, while the shorter published course measures 5,213 metres. The layout is now parkland in character, with mature trees and several closing holes running toward or overlooking Corio Bay.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,783m. Designed by Richard Banks, the course originally opened in 1909. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Pro Shop, Golf Simulator, Golf Carts, Pull Cart Hire, Club Hire, Restaurant, Bistro, Function Room.
Golf at Clifton Springs developed alongside the late-19th and early-20th-century hotel and mineral-springs tourist precinct. Dick Banks laid out a nine-hole links course, with the first recorded official Saturday competition held on 20 November 1909.
Banks' original layout was a largely open links course. As the property evolved and trees matured it took on a more parkland character while retaining elevated coastal ground and views toward Corio Bay.
Golf Victoria records that Sam Berriman designed an additional nine holes in the late 1950s. The present Clifton Springs Golf Club was formed in 1970. The course later passed into municipal ownership, and from 1993 the club assumed responsibility for operation and maintenance.
Clifton Springs is an 18-hole public-access community club with memberships, visitor golf, dining, functions and modern pro-shop and simulator facilities.
