About Anglesea Golf Club

Anglesea Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-73 course on Victoria's Great Ocean Road. Vern Morcom designed the first nine, which opened in December 1953. A second nine opened in April 1961, initially creating a par-72 course; additional land acquired in 1962 allowed the original nine to be redesigned, with that work completed in 1968 and the course becoming the present par 73.

The course measures about 6,028 metres and is surrounded by native bushland that supports a substantial eastern grey kangaroo population. Current facilities include 42 bunkers, practice fairways, two putting greens and a 12-bay driving range. Wintergreen Couch was introduced to the fairways during the 1990s, and the course was connected to recycled water in 2000.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 73, 6,028m (6,592 yards). Designed by Vernon Morcom, the course originally opened in 1953. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Practice fairways, Putting greens, Pro shop, Restaurant, Golf carts, Club rental, Bistro, and 5 more.

Origins

Anglesea's present course began with a Vern Morcom-designed nine that opened in December 1953. A second nine was subsequently constructed and opened in April 1961.

Design Philosophy

The course was developed through native coastal bushland rather than on a cleared urban site. The design uses the undulating terrain and vegetation to frame the holes, with 42 bunkers now distributed through the routing.

Development

Additional land became available in 1962, allowing the original nine to be redesigned. That project was completed in 1968. Wintergreen Couch was established on the fairways during the 1990s, and recycled water was introduced in 2000.

Today

Anglesea operates as a member club with public tee times, an extensive practice complex and a course environment also known for its kangaroo population.
