About Dainton Park Golf Club

Dainton Park Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 parkland course on Totnes Road at Ipplepen in Devon. Founders David and Carol Wood commissioned Bristol-based golf architect Adrian Stiff in the early 1990s to create a more accessible style of golf club. The course occupies approximately 125 acres and was developed with 18 new greens and tees, several lakes and around 22,000 planted saplings.

The White course measures about 6,400 yards and is rated 71.3 with a slope of 132; Yellow measures 5,772 yards at 68.3/123 and the women's Red course measures 5,400 yards at 72.0/126. Dainton Park is open to visitors seven days a week and publishes tiered 2026 summer green fees according to tee time. Practice facilities include a 16-bay sheltered and floodlit Toptracer driving range, teaching studio and pro shop.

The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 6,400 yards, course rating 71.3 and slope rating 132. The course was designed by Adrian Stiff. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Toptracer, Teaching Studio, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Golf Club Hire, Electric Trolley Hire, Buggy Hire, and 4 more.

Origins

David and Carol Wood developed the concept for Dainton Park in the early 1990s, seeking to create a golf club less formal than many traditional clubs. They engaged Adrian Stiff to design the course while attracting more than 500 prospective members during construction.

Design Philosophy

Stiff used the natural contours of approximately 125 acres and created large American-style greens intended to provide receptive approach targets. The development added lakes and extensive tree planting, including roughly 22,000 saplings.

Today

Dainton Park remains an 18-hole visitor-friendly club with an extensive practice facility, professional instruction, clubhouse dining and annual open competitions.
