East Geelong Golf Club is a public nine-hole course in Eastern Park, East Geelong, with alternate tees allowing it to be played as an 18-hole round. The club was formed on 16 July 1923, play on the new links began within days, and the official opening was held on 18 August 1923. Three current course configurations are published: Limeburners (Black), Pivotonian (White) and Stingaree (Green).
Over an 18-hole round the Black configuration measures 5,393 metres and plays to men's par 70, the White measures 5,197 metres and plays to men's par 70, and the Green measures 4,979 metres and plays to men's par 71. The course remains open to public play outside club competition times. Facilities include a golf shop, clubhouse, bar, function space, cart hire, push-buggy hire and club hire.
The course is a 9-hole golf course. The course originally opened in 1923. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf Shop, Clubhouse, Bar, Function Room, Golf Cart Hire, Push Buggy Hire, Club Hire.
A meeting was held on 16 July 1923 for the purpose of forming a golf club, resulting in the creation of East Geelong Golf Club. The new links were expected to be available for play on 21 July, and the formal opening was held on 18 August 1923. The club initially operated with basic equipment including a hand mower, wheelbarrow and hand tools.
The Lands Department subsequently granted a ten-year lease from 1 October 1923, with existing grazing arrangements on the land initially continuing.
A clubhouse was built in 1924 and the club affiliated with the Victorian Golf Association. Grazing on the course ended after 1926. Course construction work quoted by Morcom & Son was approved in the 1930s, with a £248 tender accepted.
A new clubhouse was opened on 28 April 1962. The club had also purchased land at Curlewis in 1947; a later proposal for a separate club there ultimately led to the establishment of Curlewis Golf Club in October 1970.
East Geelong has a long competitive history in the Geelong district. Its team won the inaugural Vincent Cup at Barwon Heads in 1931 and later victories included 1957, 2000 and 2001.
The club remains at Eastern Park as a nine-hole course with 18 tee positions. It is open to the public seven days a week outside member competition times and operates a staffed golf shop and clubhouse.
