The Belvelly Course is one of three named 18-hole configurations at Fota Island Resort, created from the resort's 27-hole golf complex. Belvelly is a par-72 layout extending to 7,121 yards from the championship tees. Its identity is tied particularly to the additional nine holes designed by Jeff Howes and added to Fota Island in 2007, combined with nine holes from the established course complex.
Fota's modern golf development began with a course designed by Christy O'Connor Jnr and Peter McEvoy in 1993; Jeff Howes later led a major late-1990s redevelopment and designed the additional nine. Belvelly therefore should be treated as a specific configuration rather than as a synonym for the original Deerpark course. Resort golf facilities include a clubhouse and a substantial golf academy.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 72, 6,511m (7,121 yards). The course was designed by Jeff Howes. It is open to resort guests. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Golf Academy, Driving Range, Practice Facilities, Pro Shop, Restaurant, Lodge, Suite.
Modern golf at Fota Island began with the 1993 course by Christy O'Connor Jnr and Peter McEvoy. Jeff Howes subsequently oversaw a major redevelopment of the existing course.
Nine additional holes designed by Jeff Howes were added in 2007, allowing Fota Island's 27 holes to be arranged as Deerpark, Belvelly and Barryscourt configurations.
Belvelly is maintained as a distinct par-72, 7,121-yard course configuration within Fota Island Resort.
