Origins

Earlier golf courses had existed at Buderim before World War II, but the present club traces its beginnings to enthusiasts who revived the idea in the early 1950s. G. Middleton identified the present ridge and surrounding former farmland as a potential course site.

Indooroopilly professional Ossie Walker inspected the property and supported its suitability for golf.

Did You Know?
The first five holes opened on Christmas Day 1956 and were arranged so golfers could create a nine-hole competition by replaying the first four.

Development

Clearing was underway by 1955. Five holes opened on Christmas Day 1956, followed by a complete nine in 1958. The 18-hole course was completed in 1965 and formally opened on 9 October.

Subsequent work altered several holes, including extensions, relocated tees and greens, a new dam and the conversion of the former 14th from a blind par 4 into a par 3.

Today

Headland remains an 18-hole member club with visitor access, competitions, social golf, clubhouse hospitality and practice facilities.
