Hoiana Shores Golf Club is an 18-hole coastal course within the Hoiana resort development in central Vietnam. Robert Trent Jones Jr. and the Robert Trent Jones II design team created the course, which opened for preview play in 2019.
Six holes come into direct contact with the beach, with the routing divided conceptually between a more constructed front nine and a back nine laid more lightly onto the existing coastal terrain. The project occupies roughly 77 hectares and uses links-and-dunes visual language, native grasses, extensive sandy areas and irrigation lakes designed to recycle surface water.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the course originally opened in 2019. It is open to resort guests. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Practice facilities, Pro shop, Restaurant, Villa, Suite.
Hoiana Shores was conceived as the golf component of the Hoiana integrated resort development on Vietnam's central coast. Robert Trent Jones II was selected to design the course, giving Robert Trent Jones Jr. his first original golf design in Vietnam.
Jones and his team worked with the coastal sand and dunes rather than imposing a heavily landscaped resort template. Six holes reach the beach. Jones described the front nine as more crafted and the back nine as more directly laid onto the existing ground.
Native grasses, broad sandy areas and water-recycling irrigation lakes reinforce the links-and-dunes character.
Preview play began in 2019, with the course forming part of the wider Hoiana resort development.
The project received the 2020 World Golf Awards title for World's Best New Golf Course and was ranked first in Golf Digest's Best Golf Courses in Vietnam 2020.
Hoiana Shores remains the resort's 18-hole coastal golf course and retains the Robert Trent Jones II routing.
