Origins

Club records preserved in Golf Australia's historical archive place the beginning of Mirboo North golf in 1921, when a nine-hole course was established on property owned by the St Ellen family a few miles outside town.

Did You Know?
The club occupied at least three configurations before H. V. Morcom's 1960 redesign.

Design Philosophy

The later course uses the hilly, heavily wooded South Gippsland terrain. Golf Australia Magazine describes a layout closely following the natural landforms, with several blind shots, small greens and holes framed by mature gum trees.

Development

In 1928 the club leased part of the Mirboo North Recreation Reserve and established another nine-hole course. Nineteen acres were purchased in 1946 and the course was expanded to 18 holes. In 1960 another 67 acres were leased and H.

V. Morcom redesigned the course. Golf Australia Magazine describes a further layout phase dating to 1972 that closely follows the natural terrain.

Recognition

Golf Australia Magazine featured Mirboo North in its survey of notable Gippsland golf, highlighting its natural-looking holes, elevation changes and wooded setting.

Today

The club operates 18 holes with full watering, public green fees, cart hire and onsite accommodation at the First T Motel.
