Narin & Portnoo Links is an 18-hole coastal links in County Donegal whose history dates to 1905. The present course reflects a substantial modern redesign by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner rather than simply preserving every element of the older routing. New ownership commissioned Hanse Golf Design after decades of incremental alterations had left the course with a mixture of architectural styles.
Hanse and Wagner introduced new tees, greens and contours and reorganised parts of the routing to make greater use of the natural dune property. The club occupies approximately 260 acres of Atlantic coastal land and remains open to visiting golfers year-round. Current 2026 summer rates published by the club include Golf Ireland affiliate golf from €70, affiliate societies/groups from €75 and a €45 member-guest rate.
The course is an 18-hole links golf course. The course was designed by Gil Hanse. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Full Membership, Country Membership, Intermediate Membership, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Practice facilities.
Narin & Portnoo has been part of the northwest Irish golf landscape since 1905. Over many decades the course was repeatedly altered, producing a routing that incorporated several different design approaches.
New ownership commissioned Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner to reconsider the course as a whole. Their work introduced new tees, greens and contours and sought to reconnect the routing with the natural character and scale of the dune property.
Golf Digest has described the reworked course as one of the most exciting new golf experiences despite the club's century-plus history.
