Pestana Vila Sol is a 27-hole resort golf facility at Vilamoura designed by Donald Steel. The original 18 holes opened in 1991, with a third nine later added, creating the Prime, Challenge and Prestige loops. These three nines can be paired into alternative 18-hole rounds, so the facility should not be represented as a single 27-hole par-72 scorecard.
The original championship course hosted the Portuguese Open in 1992 and 1993. Steel's routing uses the established pine landscape and comparatively narrow playing corridors, with lakes and bunkering contributing to strategy. The resort includes a golf academy, driving range, putting greens, shop and restaurant.
