The database record refers to the former Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura. Arnold Palmer designed that 18-hole, par-72 course, which opened in 2004 and became one of Portugal's principal tournament venues. It hosted the 2005 World Cup and was the long-term venue for the Portugal Masters from 2007 through 2022.
The former Palmer layout measured approximately 6,651 metres from its Palmer tees and incorporated substantial lakes and preserved wetland areas. That course is no longer the current layout: after closing, the property underwent a comprehensive reconstruction led by Ernie Els and his design team, including major routing changes and new green complexes, and reopened as The Els Club Vilamoura, a private club. The historical Victoria specifications therefore should not be used as current Els Club scorecard data.
The course is an 18-hole golf course. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the course originally opened in 2004. On-site facilities include Restaurant, Apartment.
Arnold Palmer designed Victoria as a major new championship course in Vilamoura. It opened in 2004 on a large site incorporating existing wetlands and extensive constructed water features.
After its Palmer-era tournament career, the Victoria course closed for a comprehensive redevelopment. Ernie Els and his design team rebuilt the property, including reversing the back-nine routing and replacing major playing features rather than simply refreshing the existing course.
Victoria became closely associated with elite tournament golf in Portugal through the 2005 World Cup and its long tenure as the Portugal Masters venue.
The former Victoria property now operates as The Els Club Vilamoura, a private members' club. The historical Dom Pedro Victoria identity and scorecard are therefore obsolete for current-play purposes.
