About The Norman Signature Course at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta

The Norman Signature Course, now commonly presented by Vidanta as the Vidanta Vallarta Course, is an 18-hole, par-73 Greg Norman design associated with the Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta/Nuevo Nayarit resort. Vidanta officially opened the course on 14 November 2016 after preview play earlier that year. Published destination information lists a championship length of 7,326 yards.

The routing follows the Ameca River and was deliberately kept separate from housing, with native vegetation, streams and wetlands influencing the layout. Greg Norman stated at the opening that conservation of environmentally sensitive areas was a primary design concern and that the routing was dictated by existing vegetation corridors, streams and wetlands. The playing surfaces use wall-to-wall paspalum.

The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 73, 7,326 yards. Designed by Greg Norman, the course originally opened in 2016. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf academy, Pro shop, Driving range, Restaurant, Bistro, Bar, Café, Suite, and 3 more.

Origins

Vidanta Golf partnered with Greg Norman to add a second championship layout to its Nuevo Vallarta golf operation. The course had preview play during 2016 and received its formal grand opening on 14 November 2016. Vidanta's contemporary announcement specifically described the course as being located in Jalisco even though it was developed and marketed as part of the Nuevo Vallarta destination.

Did You Know?
The course is reached from Vidanta's Nayarit resort area by a 560-foot golf-cart suspension bridge across the Ameca River.

Design Philosophy

Norman's stated priority was to respect environmentally sensitive areas. Rather than impose a routing independent of the site, the design followed existing dense vegetation corridors, streams and wetlands. The resulting course uses generous landing areas, large undulating greens, substantial bunkering and wall-to-wall paspalum.

Development

The course later became more commonly branded as the Vidanta Vallarta Course. Vidanta reports that renovation work was recognised by Golf Inc. magazine with its 2022 Renovation of the Year award.

Recognition

The layout forms part of Vidanta's Nuevo Nayarit golf complex alongside the Nayar Course and the shorter Lakes Course.

Today

Vidanta continues to operate the course as part of its Nuevo Nayarit golf offering, with the Ameca Bridge providing golf-cart access across the river to the Norman layout.
