About Vista Vallarta Club de Golf - Weiskopf Course

The Weiskopf Course is one of two separate 18-hole championship layouts at Vista Vallarta Club de Golf in Puerto Vallarta. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, it opened in November 2001 and occupies the lower western portion of the property, contrasting with the higher-elevation Jack Nicklaus course. The par-72 routing incorporates the site's existing tropical vegetation, ravines, elevation changes and creeks rather than treating the two Vista Vallarta layouts as a single course.

Puerto Vallarta's official tourism material identifies the uphill par-3 15th, played across a ravine to a tiered and bunkered green, as one of its most memorable holes. The Weiskopf course was part of the venue used for the 2002 EMC World Cup and has also been used repeatedly by the adidas Invitational Pro-Am. Vista Vallarta provides practice facilities, a clubhouse, restaurant, bar/lounge, golf shop and on-course beverage service.

The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the course originally opened in 2001. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Practice facilities, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Bar, Golf shop.

Origins

Vista Vallarta was developed with two independently designed championship courses. The Jack Nicklaus layout opened first in April 2001, followed by Tom Weiskopf's course in November 2001.

Did You Know?
The Weiskopf Course opened only months after Vista Vallarta's Jack Nicklaus course but occupies a substantially different, lower section of the property.

Design Philosophy

Weiskopf worked with the lower western terrain, retaining the character of the site's dense jungle, ravines, creeks and elevation changes. The result was intentionally different from the higher Nicklaus routing.

Development

The course became part of Puerto Vallarta's tournament-golf infrastructure soon after opening, including use during the 2002 EMC World Cup.

Recognition

Vista Vallarta's two layouts have appeared in Mexican and Caribbean golf-course rankings, while the Weiskopf course is particularly associated with its natural-looking routing and the uphill par-3 15th.

Today

The Weiskopf and Nicklaus courses continue to operate as distinct 18-hole layouts from the same Vista Vallarta clubhouse.
