The Stranahan Course is the shorter of The Players Club's two full-length 18-hole courses at Codrington near Chipping Sodbury, alongside the longer Codrington Course and the separate nine-hole Water Garden. Adrian Stiff designed the Stranahan as part of a major reconfiguration of the club's golf in 2010. It is a par-68 parkland layout measuring about 5,340 yards from its longer published tees, with an unusually high number of par threes balanced by three par fives.
The course occupies gently undulating, partly tree-lined ground and was intended to provide a shorter alternative to the championship-length Codrington. The Players Club remains open to non-members, and the Stranahan is used for club and visitor competitions, including a separate medal during the club's 2026 Open Week. Practice facilities shared across The Players Club include putting greens, a short-game area, driving-range facilities and indoor golf simulators.

The Stranahan emerged from a substantial reorganisation of The Players Club's golf courses around 2010. Adrian Stiff, who had designed the Codrington Course, was commissioned to create a second 18-hole layout. The project reused portions of the club's earlier golf while creating a distinctly shorter course alongside the championship-length Codrington.
The course was conceived as a compact alternative to the Codrington. Its par-68 configuration contains seven par threes, giving the routing a very different rhythm from the neighbouring championship course.
The Players Club now operates the Stranahan, Codrington and Water Garden as distinct layouts from the same facility. This makes course-specific identification important when importing scorecards or architectural information.
The Stranahan remains in regular club and visitor use. The club's 2026 Open Week includes a separate Stranahan competition, while the wider facility provides extensive short-game and practice infrastructure.
