Whangaparaoa Golf Club is an 18-hole public-access member club at 1337 Whangaparaoa Road, Army Bay, on Auckland's Whangaparaoa Peninsula. The club began in 1954 as a nine-hole course on land made available by farmer Jack Hobbs. Additional land enabled an 18-hole layout, and in 1958 the club acquired 108 acres nearby for the present course.
The current Blue layout measures 5,481 metres, par 71, with a New Zealand Course Rating of 69.0 and slope of 126. Five other rated configurations are published, including White, Gold, Red Long, Red and a shorter Winter Red layout. The club accepts casual green-fee golfers as well as members.
The course is an 18-hole parkland golf course. It plays to par 71, 5,481m, course rating 69 and slope rating 126. The course originally opened in 1954. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Golf Simulator, Mini Golf, Café, Bar, Gym, and 1 more.
Whangaparaoa began in 1954 as a nine-hole course on land supplied by farmer Jack Hobbs. Hobbs later provided more land so the early course could expand.
In 1958 a club committee purchased 108 acres of nearby land and developed the current 18-hole course. The original clubhouse followed in 1959. A replacement clubhouse opened in 1995, with New Zealand professional Frank Nobilo taking part in its official opening.
Whangaparaoa remains an 18-hole member club that also actively welcomes affiliated and non-affiliated green-fee golfers.
