Golf Course Architect
Bill Coore, born in 1946 in North Carolina, is a renowned American golf course architect celebrated for a minimalist, land‑driven design philosophy. A graduate of Wake Forest University (1968), he cut his teeth working with Pete Dye before launching his own firm in 1982 and forming the influential Coore & Crenshaw partnership with Ben Crenshaw in 1986.
He emphasizes preserving natural landforms, limiting earth movement, and respecting traditional design principles, creating acclaimed courses such as Sand Hills, and more recently, Te Ārai Links in New Zealand where his South Course opened in October 2022. His work is widely acknowledged as instrumental in the modern minimalist movement in golf course architecture.
