Cumberwell Park is a multi-course golf facility near Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire. The original Red and Yellow nine-hole courses opened in September 1994, followed by the Blue nine in 1999 and the Orange nine in July 2007; all four were designed by Adrian Stiff. A James Edwards-designed nine-hole Par 3 Course opened in 2016, and the first nine of a new White Course opened in 2023.
As of August 2026 these six loops provide 54 playable holes, while the second nine of the White Course remains under construction. The older full-length courses occupy rolling Wiltshire countryside with lakes, streams, woodland and natural copses across roughly 400 acres. The Orange course differs from the earlier parkland loops, with the club describing it as links-style downland.
The course is a 54-hole parkland golf course. Designed by Adrian Stiff and James Edwards, the course originally opened in 1994. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving Range, Putting Green, Chipping Green, Short Game Practice Area, Practice Bunker, Pro Shop, Golf Lessons, Club Fitting, and 11 more.
Cumberwell Park grew from a family farming property rather than an existing country club. Chris and Adrian James decided in the early 1990s to convert their Wiltshire farmland into a golf course and commissioned West Country architect Adrian Stiff. The first phase consisted of the Red and Yellow nines, which opened in September 1994.
The clubhouse was constructed in the form of a traditional Wiltshire barn, tying the new golf operation visually to the property's agricultural background. The James family has continued to run and develop the venue.
Stiff's original work used the site's existing rolling countryside, woodland and water. The club says the main golf property encompasses roughly 400 acres with nine lakes, 34 acres of woodland and free-flowing streams. Red and Yellow combine woodland and parkland characteristics, while the 1999 Blue course introduced a greater concentration of water holes.
Orange, opened in 2007, deliberately changed direction: the club describes it as a links-style downland course. Contemporary discussion of the design records wider fairways, ground-game options and strategic angles, including features inspired by classic golf architecture rather than relying primarily on forced carries.
The property expanded in stages. The original 18 holes opened in 1994, Blue increased the full-length offering to 27 holes in 1999, and Orange took it to 36 in July 2007. James Edwards of EDI Golf designed a separate nine-hole Par 3 Course that opened in 2016.
Golf Course Architecture reported that inert-fill importation was integral to the development of that course and to earlier Blue and Orange earthworks, with habitat creation incorporated into the later par-three work. A new full-length White Course began opening in 2023; its front nine is currently playable while the second nine remains under construction.
Cumberwell Park has developed a regional reputation as one of the South West's larger golf facilities. Visit Wiltshire records a four-star Golf World rating and identifies the complex as an established Wiltshire golf destination. The current official site also displays GEO Certified and England Golf Championship Venue credentials.
Its significance is tied as much to sustained expansion and the variety of its separate loops as to any one championship routing.
As of August 2026, Cumberwell Park offers 54 playable holes across Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, the first nine of White and a nine-hole Par 3 Course. Visitors are accepted throughout the week and can book through the club's online tee-time system. The venue also operates extensive practice facilities, professional tuition, a golf shop, bar and café, meeting rooms and function facilities.
The White Course's second nine is still being built, continuing the incremental development that has characterised the property since 1994.
