Sandbelt Trails is an 18-hole, par-72 Mission Hills Haikou course measuring 7,297 yards. Brian Curley and Schmidt-Curley Design patterned the layout on the architecture of Melbourne's Australian Sandbelt, explicitly citing Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath and Metropolitan as inspirations. Its bunkers use high sand flashes and pronounced lips, with some formally edged in turf and others transitioning directly into native vegetation.
Large greens contain substantial internal movement, while broad fairways provide alternative angles of attack. Eucalyptus was used as the predominant tree species to reinforce the Australian reference. Mission Hills lists 105 bunkers, average fairway width of 40 yards and average green size of 6,523 square feet.
