Stone Quarry is an 18-hole, par-70 course at Mission Hills Haikou measuring 6,029 yards. Brian Curley and Schmidt-Curley Design created it as an explicit tribute to Pete Dye, who had been a mentor to members of the design team. The architecture incorporates railroad-tie sleepers, abrupt mounding, moguls, long sandy waste areas, small greens and railroad-car bridges.
The routing passes through old volcanic quarry areas, where steep rock walls are combined with remnants such as coal cars, rail tracks and mining equipment. Stone Quarry contains six par threes and relies on shot-making rather than length. Mission Hills lists 215 bunkers, an average fairway width of 38 yards and average green size of 6,286 square feet.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 70, 5,513m (6,029 yards). The course was designed by Brian Curley and Schmidt & Curley. It is open to resort guests. On-site facilities include Clubhouse, Golf Shop, Practice Facilities, Golf Academy, Club Rental, Locker Rooms, Restaurants, Resort Accommodation.
Stone Quarry was one of ten courses designed by Schmidt-Curley for the Mission Hills Haikou development.
The architects deliberately referenced Pete Dye through railroad sleepers, small greens, abrupt mounding, waste bunkers and demanding shot angles while routing the course through former quarry terrain.
Stone Quarry remains a comparatively short 6,029-yard par-70 course focused on positional play.
