The Ocean Golf Course is one of Vale do Lobo's two 18-hole courses in the Algarve. The current layout is a par 73 measuring 6,122 metres and is credited to Sir Henry Cotton. Its history is more complicated than a single construction date: Cotton oversaw the original golf development at Vale do Lobo, where the first two nine-hole courses opened in 1968 and another nine followed in 1972.
The Ocean configuration combines two of Cotton's original nines; the resort lists the Ocean course as inaugurated in 1985, while the eventual merged configuration was completed in the 1990s. The course runs from rolling, pine-lined terrain toward the Atlantic, with holes 11, 14 and the beachside par-3 15th particularly associated with the coastal section. Vale do Lobo welcomes visitors and publishes seasonal green fees covering both the Ocean and Royal courses.
The course is an 18-hole resort golf course. It plays to par 73, 6,122m. Designed by Sir Henry Cotton, the course originally opened in 1985. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Golf clubhouse, Golf academy, Driving range, Putting green, Short-game area, Golf shop, Club rental, Buggy rental, and 5 more.
Golf construction at Vale do Lobo began under Sir Henry Cotton in the 1960s. The first two nine-hole courses opened in July 1968 and another nine opened in 1972.
The modern Ocean Course combines two of Cotton's original nines. Vale do Lobo lists it as inaugurated in 1985, while later work in the 1990s completed the merged course configuration.
Ocean is one of two 18-hole courses at Vale do Lobo and remains open to members, resort guests and outside visitors.
