Origins

Robert Trent Jones II designed Yalong Bay as a resort course on Hainan's southern coast. The architect's own project archive records a 2000 opening and identifies the setting as coastal.

Design Philosophy

Jones created a tropical interpretation of links golf. The design incorporates 98 bunker 'beaches', a river crossing the property and a mixture of sand, water and tropical vegetation. The course stretches beyond 7,100 yards from its longest markers but provides several shorter tee options.

Recognition

Robert Trent Jones II records a series of international and Chinese accolades for the course, including Golf Digest recognition and Asian Golf Monthly readers' awards.

Today

Yalong Bay remains an 18-hole resort course with visitor access, practice facilities and a record of hosting professional tournament golf.
