Golf Course Architect
Ross Watson is a prolific Australian golf course architect whose design career began in the late 1970s. After starting work in 1979 and partnering early on with touring professional Graham Marsh, he built a significant portfolio across Australia and Asia, both in solo practice from the 1990s and in collaboration.
His credits include Magenta Shores, Pacific Harbour, Royal Sydney (renovation), and notably Nambucca Heads Island Golf Club, where he expanded the original nine-hole layout to a full 18 in 1992, crafting a challenging par‑69 course set amid a dramatic island landscape. Watson continues to be active into his later years, with projects like a Caloundra renovation reflecting a long, influential career and recognition including founding presidency and life membership of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.
