Later, as Chief Designer at American Park Builders starting in 1920, he created numerous notable private club courses, including the original three layouts at Medinah Country Club in Illinois. Bendelow's design philosophy was “naturalist,” using the site's natural features to shape holes, aiming to make courses playable and enjoyable for both novices and skilled players, offering a “sporty” experience without undue cost or difficulty.
