Doha Golf Club's Academy Course is a full-length nine-hole course at the club's West Bay Lagoon property in Doha. It forms part of the 27-hole venue designed by Peter Harradine, alongside the 18-hole Championship Course. From the longest Blue tees the Academy Course measures 3,092 yards and plays to par 35; the White, Red and Forward configurations are shorter and play to par 34.
The course is fully floodlit, allowing play into the evening, and the club describes it as less demanding than its Championship Course, with broader fairways, shorter holes and fewer hazards. It is nevertheless a conventional golf course rather than a nine-hole par-3 layout, with a mixture of par 3s, par 4s and par 5s. Doha Golf Club publishes complete hole-by-hole yardages and WHS course and slope ratings for the Academy Course.
The course is a 9-hole executive golf course. It plays to par 35, 2,827m (3,092 yards). Designed by Peter Harradine, the course originally opened in 1997. It is open to the public. On-site facilities include Driving range, Short game practice area, Putting green, Golf academy, Pro shop, Clubhouse, Restaurant, Golf club rental, and 6 more.
The Academy Course was created as part of Doha Golf Club's original 27-hole development. Construction photographs published by the club date the development work to 1995, while the Qatar Golf Association records the club's inception on 4 January 1997. The project was an important step in the move from Qatar's earlier sand-course golf to permanent grass golf.
Peter Harradine designed the Academy Course as the shorter and more accessible half of the Doha Golf Club complex. The club describes wider fairways, shorter holes and fewer hazards than on the Championship Course, while retaining a conventional mixture of par 3, par 4 and par 5 holes. Floodlighting was incorporated to extend playing hours into the evening.
Doha Golf Club subsequently developed a formal golf academy around its practice and shorter-course infrastructure. Qatar Golf Association records the official opening of Qatar Golf Academy in March 2002 in the presence of Gary Player.
The Academy Course remains an active nine-hole, floodlit course available to members and visitors. Doha Golf Club publishes current visitor rates, a complete scorecard and WHS course-rating information for the layout.
