Tralee Golf Club's present course is an 18-hole Atlantic links at West Barrow near Ardfert in County Kerry. The club was instituted on 1 October 1896 but occupied several earlier sites before buying the Barrow property in 1980. Arnold Palmer designed the current course, which opened for play in October 1984 and was his first golf-course design in Europe.
The Blue tees measure 6,975 yards at par 72, with White, Green and Red alternatives measuring 6,678, 6,247 and 5,481 yards respectively. The first nine occupies more open coastal ground, while the inward nine passes through larger dunes beside the Atlantic. Visitor play is offered on specified weekdays during the main season.

Tralee Golf Club was instituted on 1 October 1896 and began with a nine-hole course in Tralee. It moved to Fenit in 1897 and subsequently occupied other sites, including Oakpark and Mounthawk. Captain Lionel Hewson was engaged to design the Oakpark course during the turbulent early 1920s.
For the move to Barrow, Arnold Palmer worked with coastal terrain he regarded as exceptionally suited to golf. The resulting routing moves from comparatively open ground on the first nine into larger dunes on the inward half.
Members decided to acquire the Barrow land in 1980. Palmer designed the new 18-hole course, which opened in October 1984. The move gave Tralee a permanent coastal links after decades at several different sites.
The Barrow course became internationally known as Palmer's first European design and has remained a prominent fixture in assessments of Irish links golf.
Tralee operates as an 18-hole walking links with controlled visitor times during the main season. Caddies and trolley hire are available, while buggies are limited to players with a medical requirement.
