Golf Course Architect
Robert von Hagge (born Robert Bernhardt Hagge; April 27, 1927 – September 17, 2010) was an American golf course architect who designed or reshaped over 250 courses across more than 20 countries. Raised in Chicago in a family steeped in golf course landscaping, he held roles from caddie to assistant pro before studying agricultural engineering at Purdue University and serving in the Navy.
After apprenticing under Dick Wilson in the 1950s and early ’60s, he launched his own firm in 1963 and quickly gained renown for visually dramatic, strategically demanding courses, often rich in bunkering and water features. S.
