Robert Trent Jones Sr. (1906–2000) was a highly influential British‑American golf course architect whose career spanned nearly 70 years.

He became known as the “father of modern golf course architecture” thanks to his bold use of risk‑reward features, expansive bunkering, strategic water placement, and his maxim that every hole should present a hard par but an easy bogey. S.
Open layouts such as Oakland Hills and Hazeltine. He earned numerous honors, including the Old Tom Morris Award and induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1987.
